Has your baby started solid food?

Doctor said to wait until 6 months. But baby is interested in the food I eat.

 If your ped told you to wait it’s because baby hasn’t met certain milestones to safely eat solids.

My pediatrician ok’d it at 4mos appt. so I started about 4.5mos. She’s loving it. So far she likes everything I’ve given her. 👌🏼

Absolutely not. There are solid food readiness signs and introduction too early can be harmful. There is no organization that supports solids before six months. Lucky you to have found a doctor that’s not following outdated research.

My pedi okayed it at four months too based on milestones he’d hit but we wanted to hold off as long as we could. He grabs at our cups now anytime we take a drink and puts his mouth on the rim to try to drink but cups are more similar to bottles so it makes sense to him. Although he grabs at food and watches us eat, we are still waiting until he starts to open his mouth for food before we start solids but I’m sure it’ll be before 6 months...and that’s just fine!! (He’ll be five months next week.)
The main concern for doing it to early is choking if they can’t lift their head and can’t sit well in the high chair or bumbo or your lap or where’ve you’re feeding him. Some say their baby gets turned off to food if fed too early but honestly I tend to think it’s maybe by parents who force it on them and make the first few experiences scary, unusual, and stressful. If you try it and they don’t show interest in being spoon fed, stop and try again in a week or so...duh! ...right?!
Also, if rice cereal seems to have upset their stomach and changed their poop habits, you can call your pedi for recommendations.
Other than that whats the big deal in doing it before 6 months?? *sigh*
By the way, I also read that before 6 months can increase the risk of childhood obesity but again that’s probably because it’s from parents who are too eager to cram food down their kids throats and overfeed them with pride bragging on how much their Lo eats. Makes sense they’d continue to overfeed their kids right? Haha. I plan to do rice cereal for at least two weeks before trying any fruits and veggies, just to build the skill of spoon feeding.

My son's doctor said wait but when I had my daughter her doctor said start at 4 months. Things changed but he eats rice cereal and baby banana food. He loves it and didn't have a bad reaction.

No, mine is interested too but will be 6months at Spring Break... so I’m waiting to start cause I’ll I’ve the whole week at home with him!  Less stress 😊

My LO trys a couple of spoon a couple times a day on top of her regular 6oz bottles every 4 hours. I puree her foods in a baby bullet, she has had banana, Apple sauce, peas, green beans, prunes and sweet potatoes. I boil then peel everything first and add a teaspoon of water if needed for the correct consistency.

I would've waited if my baby drank milk.. but she doesn't and she's on one solid meal a day, be that veg, fruit, rice or porridge. She's under the average has been since she was a tiny baby but it helps her feed so I'll continue. but yes I was also told 6 months. my mum weaned me at 3 months.. how times change ey?!
