Irregular periods, when to test?

Since having 2 miscarriages last year (April at 12 weeks and had a d&c; & June at 6 weeks naturally ) my periods have been super irregular.

Last month my doctor put me on Provera for 10 days to jumpstart my cycle and to “regulate” it because I hadn’t had a period in 8 weeks. I started the pill on Jan 2, starting January 3rd I had a day of spotting, 2 days of light bleeding for an hour each morning followed by more spotting , then 2 more days of light spotting (way off from what a normal period is for me). And nothing since then.

When I went to the doctor last month about the irregular periods they did a urine pregnancy test (negative) and then blood tests for sugar levels, thyroid, and CBC (all normal).

It has now been 6 weeks since my last “period” if you can even call it that, how long would you wait to take a pregnancy test with a period that’s so irregular?
