HCG Question

I had a miscarriage in November. I just got a call from my doctor that I need to come in and get my HCG level tested one more time...everything in my cycle has seemed back to normal the last 3 months. Is this necessary? They had me come in to draw blood EVERY OTHER DAY FOR 3 MONTHS leading up to and after the pregnancy. But every time we met with the doctor, they said there was nothing you could do about the levels. All it did was make me distraught, nervous, and sad—not to mention getting all kinds of substitutes at school. Is it actually necessary, or is it their way of predicting what’s going to happen? We’re trying to get pregnant again, and I’m not sure I want to put myself through that stress again. Is it safe to decline that test that often or to decline it at all? Do I need a new doctor? I really don’t know. I want what’s safe for the baby, but I also don’t want my incredibly high stress about these blood tests to factor in to it’s health either. Thanks for your help.
