I had my son at 38 weeks & he was 6 pounds 13 ounces with no issues at all. Everything was fully developed & he didn’t have to be in the NICU or anything. My obgyn had told me if I had went into labor even at 37 weeks he would have been just fine. It might not be completely “full term” but he was just as healthy as a full term baby.

You all are really confused on this. There’s literally a definition for full term, it’s not just dependent on what your doctor “thinks it is”. It doesn’t change doctor to doctor.

Full term is typically 40 weeks. You’re already in your 40th week from 39 weeks and 1 day. So 39-40 weeks is full term. Agree with previous comment - its not up to doctors personal preferences.

Both of my kids came naturally, on their own at 38 weeks. We had to switch drs because we moved with this pregnancy and they said 37 weeks was considered full term for them as well. Both of my kids were 100% fine and needed no medical intervention at all.

39 weeks. My dr won't induce or c section  before then unless medically necessary.

My baby came at 37 weeks and he was just fine. I was told by a few doctors that 37 weeks is full term but I always tell people he came 3 weeks early because I just don’t believe 37 weeks is full term.
