Ok ladies I'm needing some help... I quit working about 6 months ago due to having some pregnancy related complications and haven't been able to return to work. I since have filed for food assistance and was granted them for my daughter and I. I'll most likely have to add my twin boys when they come until I'm able to return to work. I've had a child support case open for a long time now for my daughter and he has not been compliant. Well, I just got a letter in the mail saying they scheduled for a DNA test to be done on march 5 and if I do not cooperate, my food assistance will be terminated. I texted my kids father informing him in case he was unaware. He started a big argument about it saying that I should've never named him as being her dad and that he is not doing a DNA test and basically that I'm a bad mom for doing such a thing. Mind you, I've supported our daughter since the day she was born. Worked 40 hours a week till I went into labor and returned to work after the minimum 6 week healing period, paid for childcare, did all the dropping off/picking up, going to the doctor, etc.. EVERY. THING. Now, there was a time in between then and now that I lost a child and was not working for a while so the bills fell on him to take care of. Other than that, I've never been dependent on him. (But I'm such a bad mom when he has never even given her a bath in her entire life) and yes, I'm the dumbass who got back with him for a VERY short lived time and ended up pregnant with my boys..lesson learned.. I've moved out..got my shit together and am now awaiting the arrival of my twins. My MAIN question is this... will i lose my assistance because HE is not compliant?? Even if I show up and he doesn't?? What does that mean for me and my children?? (I live in florida) and also does anyone know how the situation would change if I asked for his rights be terminated? Or ask him to sign over all rights to his children? For anyone wanting to know why I would request this. Its complicated but in a short way, he is now a drug dealer, doesn't have a real job, been very abusive towards me (yes charges were filed) and he has NOTHING to do with our daughter and most likely will have nothing to do with our boys either. Is there anyone who can shed some light on my situation?
