Would you choose an obgyn or a midwife to oversee your VBAC?

So I'll be having a VBAC. Just curious what people would do. I'm so nervous to pick my provider.

My OB was the one who suggested a VBAC. I had never even thought of it. I just assumed that once a c section always a c section and without any prompting while he was stitching me up he told me that if I went into labor with my next child spontaneously we should have no problem delivering vaginally. I really think it depends on the medical professional. with my first pregnancy I originally went to a midwife and she was TERRIBLE but my OB was a gentle and kind rockstar! Another doctor at his practice told me that I would HAVE to have a c section because I was over weight and he postponed his family vacation to Greece so that I could take my time and try to deliver vaginally. I labored for 29 hours and the only reason he told me we would need to have a c section was because my water had been broken for 12 hours and my son was at a high risk for infection and when he told me he cleared the room except for my husband and held my hand as I cried because he knew how scared I was. Don't put down all OB's and don't praise all Midwives. Good luck and I hope you find the right person for you.

midwife and doula! more likely to be relaxed calm and achieve a natural bifth. OBs have a medical surgical mindset. so they can lean more that wway. whereas a midwife is more supportive and encouraging of natural birth.

I had a midwife with my first baby, I ended up with a c-section but I went straight back to my midwife when I found out I was pregnant with #2. I still have to go see an OB around 28 weeks but I still have the care from my midwife. She will be there if I have a VBAC or a c-section. 
The best part about having a midwife is the care your baby gets. Even if you have a c-section they are the ones that take the baby when it comes out. If you want skin to skin in the operating room you most likely can get that because you have the support from your midwife. And bonus you don’t have to go to the hospital for all your appointments.

I had a midwife in a hospital. I experienced first hand how OBs treat VBAC patients, and I would never trust them for a VBAC.
I had a successful VBAC without scare tactics and I waited for spontaneous labor at 40w5d, most OBs won’t let you do that.

Ummm ob! You have an increased risk of hemorrhaging girl get a doula to soothe you if you need that calming experience but for sure get an ob for everything else!

Everyone needs a midwife. I wish I had one with my first cause I would have a natural birth !!! I glad I have a midwife now she is so into my pregnancy and wants me to have the birth I want !!! All OB's look at me and automatically say you have to have another c-section! It makes my heartbreak when they say that to me.
