9 days of menstruation doesn't sound right. My last bleed was heavy and lasted 11 days. It was an annovulatory cycle (didn't ovulate) so the bleed was not a true period, but annovulation bleeding. My doctor suspects pcos and prescribed metformin. If you didn't ovulate last cycle them you very well could be ovulating right now after that bleed.
