Odd period

This past period was very strange compared to my usual cycle.. instead of bright or dark red is was more of a brown color. It lasted the usual time (7 days) but it was so light i couldve used possibly 1 pad or tampon the whole time. I just used panty liners and nothing really happened untill i wiped afterr using the rest room. Im currently not on birth control untill the end of this week. Iv been off of it for about 5 months now but not activly trying, also every period leading up to that was normal. Any similar experiences?
