When you get your positive opk you are expected to ovulate anywhere between 12-36 hours later. Unless you also track your bbt you don't know the actual day you ovulate. In which case dr's recommend for you to have sex on the day of the positive opk and for 3 days after - because you can ovulate anywhere up to 36 hours after the positive opk and then the egg lives for 24 hours.. so sex on the day of positive opk and 3 days afterwards maximizes your chances
