Lanolin or lanolin free nipple balm??

Question

I read that lanolin contains chemicals that are harmful for baby to swallow. I have a five year old that I was not able to breastfeed but am now planning to try again with this pregnancy. So, what is your preference? If it's lanolin, is it harmful? Do you have to wash it off?

My lactation consultant still recommended it, but she did say I would need to wash my nipples before feeding baby.

I just use coconut oil, I'm allergic to wool, so a nipple cream with wool in it was a terrible idea 😂

Yes I have also been told the same thing, i’ve heard it can be extremely toxic if the sheep are sprayed directly with pesticides to treat mites or pests. It’s kind of gross when you think about it what it’s made from. I personally avoid it 🤗

I used the honest company nipple cream and it was so much better than regular lanolin.
