Hubby asked for a “bomb-ass cake” UPDATE!

S

Tomorrow is my hubbys bday, and we are saving everything that we can to pay off some debt and save up for IUI/

in case we have to go that route. So when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he asked me to make chicken Marsala for dinner and “a bomb-ass cake”. We’ve always gone big for birthdays so I had to make this extra special. I also ordered him a keychain on Etsy with the lat/long coordinated of where we got engaged. Something small (was only like $15!) and we’ve been talking about getting something like that for both of us since we moved to a different state we can no longer visit it.

Anyway, here are some pics of the cake! I did the strawberries myself as well. I’m super proud of it and my husband was blown away!!

I started to reply to the comments but they just kind of got away from me. Thank you all for the sweet comments. I’m blown away by all the compliments!

A few have asked for the recipe/instructions.

For the cake, nothing fancy. I literally used a box cake and canned frosting. Why reinvent the wheel when the focus was more on the decoration of it anyway. Between the layers are fresh strawberries cut up with hazelnut and chocolate ganache. (Mixed Nutella and chocolate frosting)

Lightly frosted the edges and pressed chocolate chips against it. Melted the chocolate frosting in microwave for about 15 seconds and poured it on top of the cake then topped with strawberries, ferrerro rocher and last of chocolate chips

For the strawberries I used bakers chocolate! (That’s the brand). Super simple. For the white chocolate I just melted it put it in a baggie and cut the tip to drizzle on tip.
