So my partner and I are long distance and plan to lose our virginities together (we are in our mid twenties and been together a long time, it feels SO right. We’ve waited so long for this and are so excited about taking our relationship further) but being long distance we have to be really careful about protection. So I am currently on the patch. It has given me barely any side effects and regulated my period really well. I’ve found somewhat of a sweet spot for it on my stomach that stays pretty flush all week...although if I sit too bent over it’ll crease and gape in the middle a little bit but overall it stays flush to my skin, so I’m guessing this is okay? Also it does get water under it when I shower but stays stuck.

We are also going to use (extra safe durex) condoms, but we are going to also add in the contraceptive sponge too for that third type of protection.

Basically I’ve been concerned with all these horror stories from women getting pregnant using birth control I read online making me paranoid. I get no BC is 100% and I’ve done so much research and read a lot of studies on it all.

And now I am worried I won’t even enjoy my first time because I’ll be worried about getting pregnant? Basically I’m worried about being worried and ruining it for myself haha. I’m so ready for this, I was a year ago but we didn’t get chance to be alone together too much, it’s only since doing research on birth control and reading horror stories I’ve been more paranoid. I absolutely CANNOT get pregnant and even taking these probably overkill precautions I guess I need a little reassurance. We only see each other every 6 months and we have been talking and wanting to make the most of it, it feels so right and I am completely ready, guess I just need some ladies with sexual experience successfully using birth control to ease my mind. So how long have you used condoms/patches/ etc for an been successful without scares?

I know my mother was on the pill for 3 years married and worked great for her but we don’t really talk about sex as it would be a bit uncomfortable. I know that I’m being silly worrying too much, especially when I see how much sex people are having 😂 and we are only going to be together for 9 days!!

Don’t really want to hear about things like IUDS and Implants because I don’t have either and know they are super effective but I’m not on them right now haha. Thanks ladies
