Going out to dinner with baby?

Question

Is almost impossible! How do you keep your little one entertained long enough for you can eat your dinner?! We tried tonight..and we had to eat one at a time. One of us had to walk her around while the other one ate. She didn’t want anything to do with the highchair after about 30 mins. 😩
**This is also a nightly occurrence at home too**

We hold my son until the food comes then put him in the high chair. The less time he has to sit in it, the better! Then we alternate giving him toys, Cheerios, Gerber fruit melts, sips of water, and little bites off our plates. We also eat QUICKLY 😂 Some nights go smoother than others but for the most part going out to eat has been pretty successful.

We couldn’t find a babysitter for Valentine’s day so our 8 month old joined us for a night out at Hibachi and cried the whole time! It was so sad and miserable, she screamed to the top of her lungs because she was scared of the guy 😭. I tried to take her out to more restaurants with me and she eventually got used to it, doesn’t cry anymore and actually enjoys herself lol. I give her a menu to play with and make sure to feed her while i’m eating. Don’t know about taking her to Hibachi again lol but try taking your little one out more and entertain them with toys/ food

This was easier when our daughter was younger, but now we try the following;
•pram/buggy/highchair toys. The kind that clamp or suction to the object in question
•giving baby a baby-friendly snack - possibly to feed themselves (if you were in your highchair, you’d expect food too!) a small bottle of milk can work too - just watch out for throwing!
• last resort - Netflix/YouTube on your phone. Peppa Pig and Puffin Rock have been saviour when we’re eating outside the home. You may have to eat with baby sitting on your knee though- but at least you can both eat warm food!
We’re actually on a mini vacation at the moment, and have been needing to use all 3 of these. The only problem we’ve had, is when it’s past her usual 7:30 bedtime, and she winds herself up. Annoyingly, where we’re staying only opens the restaurant at 7:30... I mean, wtf, it’s a family resort, and they expect all babies and children to be able to stay up past then? I’m a bit pissed off about it.

If we go out to eat I always pre-prepare a meal for him. We have been doing BLW since 6 months so he feeds himself. Soooo easy for when we are out.

I give my daughter my keys and set up my phone with Netflix. She likes the octonots or however it's spelled. Sometimes just hold her and eat (but that's only when she's real tired). People are going to be rude and stare at you no matter what happens. I've even seen people start petitions regarding child free area in restaurants and planes. It's truely ridiculous. Just make sure to have multitudes of different things for your baby to play with. I honestly hand her the most random things. She gets bored of her toys. Sometimes I hand her a clean diaper and let her play with it. New things distract her for about 5 minutes per item.
