Prego friendly cold and flu over counter med?

Can someone tell me what's safe to take over counter? I have a cough and it's worsening and I'm also going through the very early stages of my pregnancy. I just want to make sure I'm not going to harm it in anyway.

I am a medical assistant and I work for an OB, I also just gave birth to my son 1 month ago. This is what my OB tells and has me tells patients. You don't want to take any combined cold medicines. You can take Tylenol but not the Tylenol "cold" medicines, only regular strength acetaminophen. Sudafed can affect your milk supply so I wouldn't recommend that. You can do Mucinex but make sure it's not Mucinex D or DM. Just the straight guaifenesin. You can use Flonase and also Saline spray if you have nasal congestion. Sore throat you can do warm tea or water with honey and/or Chloraseptic spray. Definitely stay away from all of the over the counter "cold and flu" medicines. Running a humidifier can help too. If you have a cough that is bad ask your doctor cause you can take Tessalon Perles, which is a prescription. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.!
