Gaming disorder.

So WHO is about to recognize gaming as an actual addiction. As far as I know it is actually called "Gaming Disorder". WHO is forming its 11th draft of the International Classification of Diseases and in there it gives a brief description of the disorder. It is described as follows:

•A recurring or persistent behavior pattern that is severe enough to affect crucial and important aspects of life

•Examples include: Gaming taking priority over essential functions like eating, sleeping, and bathing.

•For diagnosis to occur, the behavior would need to be persistent over the course of twelve months.

For now, WHO's draft only includes the description. It doesn't include treatment options or prevention.

My POLL QUESTION to you is:

Do you agree with gaming being classified as an addiction?

BONUS QUESTIONS:

•Do you think it should take such a long time to diagnose, especially if it is affecting necessary functions like eating, hygiene, etc?

•What do you think treatment options and preventions should be?

•Do you potentially know anyone with Gaming Disorder?
