Would/have you let your babies suck their thumbs?

Why or why not? What have you noticed in your children that have done or not done this?

I don't let my daughter do it,I always remove her thumb out of her mouth when she does that,and she put it right back and again I take it out,it's frustrating😁.. I just won't let her do it! I used to be a thumb sucker,also an index and middle finger sucker! And I did it till I was in school age,so I wouldn't let my daughter do it.

NO NO NO NO NO! I was a thumb-sucker and my teeht are absolutely terrible because of it (big open bite). My mom did everything she could think of to stop me but I continued doing it through my childhood and even my teen years (I still catch myself doing it or will wake up with my phone in my mouth). It is such a difficult habit to break, so I will not even let it happen in the first place.

I wouldnt try to stop my baby from sucking a thumb. Why would I? It provides some comfort

My baby girl does occasionally but usually takes a pacifier. I have no problem with either, it gives her comfort.

My daughter used to suck her thumb and my son his finger but they grew out of it once they hit kindergarten (they're 5&6 so they just stopped)

My daughter wasn't even a minute old and was sucking her fingers making a little frog sound. Now she only sucks her thumb in the car or when she's sleepy-holding her stuffed owl and bunny while she does it.

We never used a pacifier. I was a thumb sucker. I'm not sure if that contributed to an over bite(messed up teeth run in my family:/),but I don't foresee any problems for her.

I prevented him from doing that because I was a thumb sucker until my tweens. I did it in my sleep so it was hard to break.

I have a two year old nephew who only sucks his thumb at night to soothe himself to sleep. He's two so its a comfort thing. I personally don't mind it because he's not constantly doing it all the time. :) he will grow out of it when he's ready.

I wouldn't let them do it after a certain point. I was using a pacifier until I was 6 (embarrassing,  I know) and I ended up getting a hideous overbite and my parents never got me braces because they thought my smile was "beautiful". I hate my smile, I try my hardest not to smile or laugh in public,  and I hate having to talk to people because I'm super self conscious about it. I have good health insurance now so I'm going to fix my smile myself,  but I don't want my child to go through the pain and bullying that I've endured.
