Can my spouse stay with me overnight in hospital?

I’ll be sure to ask my doc next visit but my bf called me asking will he be able to stay with me & the baby overnight because someone told him he couldn’t🙄 I know different hospitals have different rules but typically is the father allowed to stay or does he have to leave & come back during visiting hours?

I suggest going on a tour at the hospital you will deliver at. Make a list of questions and ask whatever isn’t answered. It really depends on the hospital.

In the UK this is usually not allowed unless you have a private room.

We do get a labor room though. But that would be the only time we are private. The rest of the wards are just separated by curtains

No we have the NHS where we don’t have to pay insurance companies. We pay out of our taxes and a small amount of national insurance. So if we choose private then we would have to pay just like you do (or I do now I’m in the USA)

You don’t get private rooms automatically over there?! 😳

My hospital has a full size pull down Murphy bed for dad to sleep comfortably 😊 just ask your doctor, but I personally have never heard of a hospital not allowing them to stay. Im sure they probably don’t allow them to come and go at late hours but if he is in the room with you all night and isn’t in the way I don’t see why it would be a problem. If a hospital said my husband couldn’t stay, I would assume that they are living in the dark ages and that wouldn’t be a place I would feel comfortable delivering anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

There are a lot of very strict orthodox Jewish families in that area and they don’t allow men to be in the same room.
