Does insurance cover private delivery rooms?

I gave birth to my 1st child in a different state and I had a room to my self automatically. I didn't ask for it. They just put me in there. Now I am in a different state and I am wondering if it's just the hospitals choice or will insurance pay for a private room if you request it.

Check your hospital. All the ones around me are private because it's the same room you deliver in that you stay in.

At the hospital I deliver in that's all the have is private rooms. You deliver your baby in the room you will be staying in. I am requesting a jacuzzi room cuz it helped with my 1st labor. I also do in room nursery so it's better for me to have a private room.

Most insurance companies don't cover private rooms unless that is all they offer and for most hospitals for the maternity floor they only have private rooms. I have worked for 2 different insurance companies and they were both the same. So you can't request it and have it covered...

It will also depend what the hospital offers. Most hospitals offer private recovery rooms in their labor and delivery wings anymore - I'd check with where you plan to deliver!
