Would you break up with a SO because you disagree on hot button topics?

My boyfriend and I disagree on several topics.. like abortion, Trump, political views pretty much. I’m far left democrat and he’s definitely a republican. We’ve argued heavily about abortion, racism, and money. Whenever we talk I try to open his mind up to other opinions vs getting angry at some of the things that come out of his mouth. Sometimes we will get so fed up at eachother that we don’t want to look at eachother. He’s one of those people that thinks he’s right 24/7 and rarely admits when he’s wrong.

I’ve considered not talking about political things with him, just to keep the peace, but at the same time, I feel like our values may totally differ. I asked if he’s talked about these things with his past girlfriends and he said yes and that they all agreed with him. I find it hard believing that, I feel that maybe they haven’t really thought for themselves and just went along with what he said.

I love him as a person and we get along nicely. He makes me laugh and I miss him constantly... but it makes me wonder how things will go down the road. Opinions or thoughts??
