Gestational diabetes

Any other first time moms out there who have gestational diabetes? Receiving this news at almost 31 weeks pregnant has rocked my world. The fact I have to prick myself before and after eating is so discouraging to me. I know it's a very common symptom. But my doctor and nutrionalist find me to be an interesting case because i don't have any of the factors or fit any of the criteria. granted every case is different I know but it kind of almost makes me uneasy that maybe I alwyss had diabetes and didn't know? Idk I'm so healthy as it is and just feel discouraged now ;(. Discouraged and upset that Iv tried so hard and guess I have to try even harder to keep my away from having to give myself insulin shots. I can't imagine having to do that seeing as eveytime I get blood drawn I pass out or almost pass out. I would like to hear moms and there stories. Need some encouragement.  Thank you moms ;-/
