Paying off engagement rings

How would you feel if your future husband gave you an engagement ring he was still making payments on? I know not everyone is lucky enough to have the money to pay it all off at once but would you rather he wait to give it to you until the last payment was done and he actually owned it? I'm personally very happy my husband waited to go buy the ring until he had enough saved to walk out the store with it free and clear, it just feels like more thought and consideration was put into it. He told me early on he'd never give me something that wasn't fully his to give yet and something about that was so sweet that I didn't even mind waiting the 6 years for our engagement! What are your thoughts ladies?
