Talking?

Question

Anyone else December baby not saying a bunch of words? He says mama, dada, kitty, and says lllllllliiii (light) and babbles all day, he loves to “talk”. But as for actual words I feel like he should be saying more. I wasn’t super worried about it but seems like everyone makes comments that he doesn’t say a lot of words.  His next checkup isn’t until the end of next month, so I’ll definitely ask his doctor but I wanted to hear from ladies with babies the same age.

My daughter says the same mama, dada, doh(dog), and uh oh. BUT I taught her sign language and she knows those very well and uses those just as frequently. She knows milk, please, more, all done, and thank you. I think any kind of communication counts right?

James was saying 8 words in December, then he learned to walk and doesn't talk at all anymore. I worry about that, but he has a doctor's appointment in a week, so I guess I will ask his doctor then. I remember a poll being posted in this group not too long ago and the majority of people said their babies were just babbling and not saying actual words. I don't think not talking is anything to worry about until 18 months.

My son babbles lots, but mostly shakes his head yes and no. We recently had Early On do an assessment with him for a different reason (he’s doing just fine! Rather be safe than sorry. 😊) and one of the women that assessed him was actually the speech therapist. She said that she isn’t concerned if kids his age aren’t saying much as long as they are doing some kind of communication like nodding yes, shaking head no, pointing, etc. And though my son isn’t saying much, he can point out most of the animals in his animal book and tell us what sounds they make. She said that was also a very good sign. She said to let her know if his speech doesn’t pick up by 18 Months.

Used to talk. "baba, dada, mama, dog, night night, bye bye, all done, eat hello, and Otis (dog's name came out "tis") and maybe others. Then they started walking and only say maybe 3 words but they will point at just about anything I say! If I say "upstairs" they run to the steps, "outside" they run to get shoes etc.. 
I have a friend who's daughter is almost 2 months older than mine and saying all sorts of words and animal sounds but JUST started walking a few steps independently at 17 months.. where mine have been walking since 12 months... not to compare "intelligence" but just a good reminder that they all do things differently in the order they feel is more important!

My son says mama, dada, sit, baba, hi, bye, and shakes his head no. But he understands more words then he can say. I’m not worried at all about his speech I’m sure by the age of two he will be saying a lot more words.

We are in the same boat. We have 3-4, that’s it. Daddy, uh oh, and sometimes he will say hi or bye bye. He “talks” and lot, just nothing in real words. I’m trying not to stress about it yet. We have a checkup in a couple weeks so I’ll be talking to our pediatrician about it then.

our son says mama, dada, mommy, daddy, kitty, meow, puppy, woofwoof, whats that, uh oh, poopoo💩, bye bye, hi, night night, love you, baba(bottle), all done, wow wow! when he gets excited lol, vroom when he plays with his cars. He never stop talking lol he babbles all day. He signs more when he wants more to eat or just wants something to eat but were working on eat and all done

My lil man isn’t talking much either. He will be 15 months on the 19th. He babbles all day and sounds like he is trying to have a conversation but no real words. He says mama & dada occasionally but no other words than that :/ We have his 15 month check up next Friday. I’m curious on what the doc will say.

My daughter babbles only. No real recognition of mama dada. I’m going to talk to my pediatrician about it. My mom said I was a late talker, not really talking until 3. I was suppose to go to speech therapy but due to my family moving and other stuff I slipped through the cracks.
