Does your Oct baby use utensils to feed themselves?

So my son will be a year and a half next month. He needs himself with his hands but every morning I make oat meal and he refuses to use the spoon to feed himself.. he wants me to. Just curious if any other October babes do this. Maybe it's just his personality..

My girl can use her fork but won't use a spoon. She just stabs around her plate until it catches something.

YES lol but when he gets frustrated he’ll pick up the food put it in his fork or spoon and than put it in his mouth lol

I always offer and she uses maybe 50% of the time, but often only for half the meal or so then ditches it. She can stab things with a fork and she can rub the spoon in liquid, sometimes get things into the bowl of the spoon.

My daughter can sort of use a fork although she's been getting more needy and will hand it to me and say "help" after a feeble attempt lately. We've only had minor success with the spoon as the food usually falls off before making it to her mouth and she doesn't exactly grasp the concept of scooping. If she asks for help I make her hold the utensil and guide her hand so she understands the concept. Still, it's faster to eat with her hands so that's what she mostly uses. Just keep offering utensils and eventually it'll click.

My guy prefers using utensils actually which I find weird.. if food falls off he puts it back on the spoon haha! But he hasn’t got down turning the spoon to fully get it in his mouth and dipping it. Still needs mostly hand over hand

Spoons are way harder than forks! The only time my son uses a spoon is with yogurt and it’s more of just dipping in and licking it off. Forks we are good with though!

Mine is obsessed with utensils!! She’s definitely better with the fork & she even uses it to eat soup 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds like the struggle I’m going through haha my daughter does NOT want to use utensils. I always leave a spoon in her cereal or whatever else as an option and she just picks out of the bowl.
