Keeping her occupied while I cook 📺👩‍🍳

Lo

We are in need of advice as we are officially stuck in a bad habit. We swore we’d limit screen time but here we are: every evening when I need to make dinner I plop her down to watch up to 50 mins of a Disney dvd (she and I are the only ones home at this time of day). I’ve tried leaving her to her own devices but she ends up underfoot in the kitchen. I’ve tried including her in the dinner prep and she loses interest after about 7 mins. I’ve tried putting on kids music for her but she still ends up underfoot. She now expects the TV time at this time of day and requests it at other times of the day too: cue the tears when we say no. I do try to cook the speediest meals as frequently as possible, or leverage leftovers to cut on prep time etc. How do I get out of this cycle? What else can I try to keep her occupied while I absolutely must get dinner going? HELP!?
