When you end a long term relationship with your s/o should your family/friends cut them off too?

How would you feel if your family maintained a relationship with your ex? Would it be wrong for them to end their relationship with your ex because you did?

I think if there are children involved it's acceptable if not then they shouldn't involve them selfs with that person can be complicated for that person to move on

That's really up to them. If they've become close, it may not be fair to ask them to end their relationship. However, if your ex wronged you (like if he cheated on you or something), then I would hope that your family members would end their friendship with him in support of you.

I don't think it would be wrong! Because if you've been with someone for a long period o time the family and so will become close!

I had a weird situation a couple years ago where my mom "got custody" of my boyfriend so he could stay home and help me with my pregnancy. His mom was a very awful person and lied to have him sent away after she found out we were pregnant. But then his colors started showing and I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He became "abusive" and I left. But my mom technically still had custody so he had to live at her house. He was 17 I was 18. Defiantly depends on the situation.

I was once engaged before my husband and I got together. Things ended, it wasn't pretty at the time, but we're on speaking terms now. That being said, my family thought (just like I did) that this man would be with me forever. They had a relationship with him, and just because our romantic relationship ended, it didn't mean they had to end their family relationship with him. My family (parents / cousins) are still on friendly terms with him and keep up with his life. He and I don't speak much, but there's really nothing wrong with it! We're all adults and our relationships are not based on other peoples relationships.

It all depends on their relationship & the situation... If they don't, Their relationship will eventually die off also.
