1cm Dilated?

I’m 34 weeks and 1 day today and I checked my cervix today and it is very soft and I could insert the tip of my pointer finger through. Is this normal this early? Can you stay 1cm for awhile before real labour comes?

You definitely should not be checking your cervix. Most doctors won’t check for a few more weeks and even then it’s unnecessary. But it is very normal to be dilated weeks ahead of time. I was dilated at a 2-3 for weeks.

You shouldn’t check your own cervix, but my sister was at 1cm for a few weeks and at 2cm for a few weeks before she delivered. So it doesn’t mean labor is near.

I was 2 centimeters dilated at 24 weeks and it stayed that way until I was 38 weeks, in which I was induced by pitocin at 38 due to complications
