Birth control last week placebo pills?

Just curious, are the pills that are supposed to be taken while having your period just placebo pills to remind you to stay on track with your birth control? Is it necessary to complete all of the prescribed pills in the pack if they are?

It depends on the birth control brand, some have iron or other vitamins in the inactive pills and some have a lower amount of hormones in those pills than in the active pills.

They're just sugar pills. Mainly to keep you on track so you don't forget when to take the active pills. They're a good idea so you don't miss any tablets. But you don't need to take them. I never do, I just remember that the following week I need to take them again. (Mark it in a calendar if you decide to do this).
