Is a hotdog a sandwich?

Something lighthearted for the CC. Do you consider a hotdog a sandwich or is it its own “sub-species” (for lack of a better phrase)?

A bun is only one piece of bread so I don’t consider a hot dog a sandwich. However, I don’t like hot dogs nor sandwiches so I really don’t care 😂
