Spotting or period ?

I ovulated 2 weeks ago. Period is not due for another week(but last month it came early). Now I noticed some brownish spotting. Could it be that my period came a week early or can it be it ? Should I test or wait? Can anybody describe how their "spotting" experience was. Please HELP!
