naming baby after dog?

I had a dog named Leah and she passed away like a year ago. if I was having a girl (not sure yet) i might put that name on my list but does anyone think it would be weird to name my baby the same as my old dog?

The middle name of our baby boy will be our dogs name. He’s been our best friend for 14 years and I see it as a cool way to remember him forever! I realize that some people may find it weird but we are huge dog people and don’t give AF what people think!

I see people post all the time about naming their child after their “boyfriend’s great-aunt’s godmother who recently passed.” I think naming a child after a beloved pet is less weird than that!

I don't really think it's weird but some people might. My nickname from my parents was bear, they now have a dog named bear and I actually really want to name our baby bear if it's a boy lol

Are you really naming the baby after the dog? Like would you tell your child later down the line “yes hunny you were named after mommy’s beloved dog!” if not then it sounds like you just like the name. As long as you’re not treated your kid like the reincarnation of your dog I don’t think it’s a big deal.

I had to put my cat to sleep almost two years ago his name was Nowa ☹️🌈 when I found out I was pregnant if I had a boy I was gonna name him Noah since you pronounce Nowa the same was as Noah ....I don’t see it bad or weird ...specially when our pets mean so much to us
