School walkout and planned fire drill
Good morning everyone!
As most of you probably know, today is exactly one month after the school shooting in Parkland, FL. There are nationwide schedule walkouts today. At the school my client goes to (preK-8th), there was an unplanned fire drill yesterday. Rumor has it that this fire drill happened so that anyone who was disruptive during the fire drill would be written up and given ISS (in school suspension), so they wouldn’t be able to walk out today. Another rumor was that a student said “bless you” to someone who sneezed, and they were written up. How do you feel about this?
Note: we are not debating whether the rumor is true or not. I’m honestly not sure if it is. This debate is assuming it IS true.
Edit: it seems like I didn’t include enough info. I AM NOT saying there shouldn’t be consequences to walking out. That’s part of a protest. These kids got a stricter consequence for talking during a fire drill than they usually would receive, which will then lead to a stricter consequence if they choose to walk out today from ISS.
Second edit: the rumors were confirmed and several parents have called the school today saying they are involving lawyers
Sorry for all the edits guys, but I found info from CNN about students’ rights. Is this infringing on their rights since they are getting different punishments?
