Travel toys for 1 year old?

Question

We’re taking a flight in 4 weeks and I’m trying find some toys that will keep him busy.
We’re bringing his tablet with cartoons on it already and some game apps.
All over Amazon are those plush toys with clasps and buckles, I don’t think he’s quite ready for that yet.
Any recommendations?

I'd take a tablet or computer with some favorite movies. My girl always calms down with Frozen, Moana, and Trolls. She loves all the singing.

I just flew with my 13 month old. She isn’t entertained much by movies or phones (although I tried), so I had a shiny bag with small items she pulled out and put back in the bag. She also loved wiping everything with a little hand wipe. I also brought a travel tray I got on amazon which was perfect for keeping things off the ground and her hands off the disgusting airline seat. Here’s a pic. :)

We've flown a few times, I actually like taking a red eye so he sleeps. We also have different toys so when he gets bored with one we have another. We dont do tablets or cell phone stuff with him so I dont have any experience there. Also bring plenty of snacks and water and milk. Make sure to give something to drink during take off and landing to help with eat discomfort, my guy hasn't had a problem. The biggest issue for us has been when he poops on the plane and needs a diaper change, I will go in the bathroom with the baby and my husband stands behind me with the supplies, my little man is a roller during diaper changes and it's hard at home let alone on a moving airplane in a nasty bathroom!

We just went on a flight with our 12 month old. 
We went to Walmart where all the easter stuff was and got tonnnnnnns of toys. Soft fuzzy sticky hand things. Finger puppets. Squishy ball. Sticky notes with one crayon. Mini xylophone. They have all those nicknacks and she loved them.

I recently traveled to my husbands home town in Argentina, all in all 25 hours door to door with drive times and layovers, he was 12 months at the time. You will be surprised by how much they sleep on the plane! I filled one gallon size ziplock was with new cheap toys he had yet to play with and i didn’t even pull it out once on the way there. He was more interested in the tray table, buttons and other passengers.

I fly with my daughter about once a month and it is getting more challenging now that she is almost 14 months but my tricks are stickers (her absolute favorite thing, we are both covered in them by the end of the flight), snacks and a couple new toys from the dollar store that she has never seen before. This flight I got her a deck of cards from the dollar store (they had cute animals on them as she is a huge animal lover) and she loved pulling them out of the box and then me having her pick one from the pile.  The dollar store is great for travel stuff because it’s cheap and you don’t have to worry about loosing or breaking anything. We don’t use tablets, phones, etc. with her so I don’t have any advice in that department but the flights do go by fast, even though most of our trips are cross country, because I am engaged the whole time trying to keep her entertained, you will be surprised how fast it goes!
