I have my first midwife appointment tommorow- I’m 9 weeks exactly then! Will she try and find a heart beat?

I know it might be hard, and she may not be able to, I’ve had a scan so I’ve seen the heart beat, I just want to hear it 😍

In my experience, no they don't try to find the heartbeat until 16 weeks. I had early scans at 6 and 8 weeks with this pregnancy and I've still got to wait until my 16 seek midwife appointment on the 3rd of April. This is my 5th pregnancy but I've only got one living child (3 miscarriages in first trimester) x

It can be tough. I head at 9 weeks with my first. The next two babies I did not hear them in the Doppler until 11-12 weeks. Each time is different.

My midwife didn’t try to find the heartbeat until today and I’m 14 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks and I’ve been finding the heartbeat at home for a while.

It’s hard to hear with a Doppler that early. My doctor didn’t even try until I was 11 and a half weeks and make sure to warn me that it might not pick up the heartbeat. For me, my baby was super showy and didn’t waste a second to let us know she was there lol
So I wouldn’t be surprised or upset if she didn’t try.

I know you've had a scan already, which showed a beating heart. At 9 weeks gestation Midwife are obstetrician will try to find the heartbeat with a Doppler device. That's not used until 13 weeks plus gestation
