Tough mudder
On March 18, 2018 I participated in my first tough mudder!! I was super nervous that I wouldn’t be able to make it all the way through and would just ultimately give up and take a ride back to the starting line, but I didn’t! For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, the tough mudder is an obstacle course done in the mud. I participated in the full version so I ran a little over 10 miles and I had to complete 20 obstacles. The obstacles included crawling under barbed wire, jumping into 4 1/2 feet of water and having to jump over these turn tables that you have to manually turn yourself (it’s soooo much easier with others helping), jump over haystacks that are about 10 feet tall, running up a half pipe and jumping at the top to get up it, jumping over a wall, and so much more physically demanding and upper body strength. Although I didn’t attempt 4 of the 20 because I knew I didn’t have the strength to complete it let alone start it, I did the obstacles I knew I could. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and had a blast. I didn’t run the whole 10 miles, I walked/jogged the first 5 or 6 miles and then I had to walk the rest do to my calves cramping up so hard whenever I flexed them a certain way. When I got home that night, my dad was super proud of me because he didn’t think I was going to make it. I can see why though, I’m not a fit person and I hardly made any effort to train for this. But next year I will because I plan to do ALL of the obstacles! 💪🏼
Here is a couple pictures of me and my friend. Without her, this wouldn’t have been possible for me.
