when to start TTC #2

I have a 6 month old baby that was a micro preemie. Can I start trying for #2 already?

My MFM said no getting pregnant for a minimum of 2 years after my preemie was born. Closely spaced pregnancies increase the risk of preterm birth and IUGR. I waited 23 months before conceiving again and I went full term.

it definitely happens and it's all good. my doctor's always told me to wait so my uterus can heal. I ended up having. a c section. but they even told me if I did have it naturally to wait about a year. but I know people who had Irish twins that are 10 months apart and they are perfectly fine pregnancy, birth, and growth. so I guess overall it's up to u but they will always tell u the risks cause they have to.

Definitely talk to your dr! If you’re breastfeeding I would wait closer til she’s a year old because my milk has basically dried since becoming pregnant with number 2!

I’d consider talking to your doctor about it. We started trying when our daughter was 5 months and conceived when she was almost 9 months. She was full term, though. And our doctor said although it’s not recommended to have a baby so soon, he didn’t think the risks were that concerning for us. Premature birth is a risk for a pregnancy that occurs within 6 months after the last. And I think premature labor is a risk for the rest of your pregnancies, but again, ask your doctor.
