Do I need a will before baby is born?

Neither my husband or I have a will. I really don’t care about possessions, but do I (or we) need one? I would like to be able to decide a legal guardian for our baby if we were both to pass. I just assume it would be pricey to have a lawyer write up a will. My parents didn’t have wills until I was in elementary school so they don’t think it’s a big deal.

My husband and I have been having the same convo! Neither of us have brothers or sisters to easily assign legal guardianship to. Well he has half brothers and sisters but doesn’t speak with them. So for us, it’s been is difficult decision but we want to at least draw something up in case we both pass.
Not to sure if we will draw up a will prior to giving birth but we certainly will try and have one soon after. I hate the thought of the child going to one of our relatives that couldn’t properly care for them the way we would.

We are doing one online. There are quite a few online programs that will make a basic will. I would google “best online wills” or something to find reviews. We are doing this just to get a basic guardian put in place. We will probably go through a lawyer and get something more detailed in a few years. But thats all we need for now.
