Nipple shields?

Has anyone tried nipple shields and found them helpful? My baby has an insane SUPER suck, making it super painful to breastfeed, leaving me in tears & I don’t want to give her a bottle..

I would contact an LC. They can help determine if you need one or not. If so, they will give you a care plan. Usually shields are temporary under the supervision of an LC.

I’ve had to use a nipple shield since my LO was born because he wouldn’t latch onto me. He latches perfectly onto the shield and I’ve had little to no pain using it. However I’m trying to wean him off it now and it’s challenging. I would definitely suggest feeding at least once a day without it like a previous poster said so it’s easier for you

Yes. I used one because I was cracked severely.
I fed my baby without it at least once a day on at least one side so it would be easy to get rid of it later. I used it around 6 weeks, so my supply was well established. Apparently it is possible that your supply can get slightly messed up from them. That wasn’t my experience.

I personally haven't used one, but I've heard good things. I'd definitely try it. The worst that would happen is you decide you don't want to use it, right?
