Nuvaring

Sooo I started the Nuvaring back in December or January. I've had a weird, uncomfortable, smelly vaginal odor since. I've talked to my OB/GYN about it and she said to try Refresh Gel. It works for the 72 hrs then the smell comes back and I have to apply it again - which can get expensive. This makes me think I have an underlying problem. I've been tested for STDs and infections and nothing has come back positive (so has my boyfriend). I've switched to cotton panties, I douched only once because I know it's not a good remedy of choice, but I don't know what to do at this point. So it's been in & out of my head that maybe the Nuvaring (being a foreign object) is causing the smell? Can anyone elaborate or give insight to their use with the Nuvaring? Thanks in advance!
