Selfies here meaning a photo of just you, not a selfie with friends, just one of yourself because you're feeling attractive or like your makeup or whatever reason you want to take it.

I've always struggled with self esteem and I've heard from friends that they take selfies as a confidence boost or just when they're feeling really attractive. I can see the appeal but I can't stand photos because I always look awful and they just make me feel s*** about myself. I've tried a couple of times in the past when I had a day that I felt attractive for once but the photo looked nothing like me in the mirror and once or twice I actually preferred the photo version but deleted it because I know that's not how I look.

I'm almost 20 and feel completely disconnected from my peers in this sense which I know isn't important but I can't stop myself from feeling that way. I just wish I could take a picture of myself every now and then and actually like what I saw instead of picking out my flaws.

Just a note, my main insecurities come from photos as opposed to my reflection. I have had guys flirting with me in public (where they did it respectably, I don't mean cat calling) so I know I'm not a troll hahaha and I always have older people like aunties etc. tell me how attractive I am but I feel like that's just an older person thing and it's mainly because I'm a damn giant so they call me 'smart' looking (that could just be a Welsh saying if you don't understand what it means). I've just never been photogenic especially because I have an oval face shape that I hate so I look awful head on and don't look like myself if I turn my head for a better angle.

This wasn't supposed to be a self hate post though hahah I just want to know how often and why you guys take selfies :)
