Advice on skipping period

Hi! I've been on the pill for about 10 months now and I haven't had any problems. I'm seeing my boyfriend this weekend (we're ldr) and I was planning on skipping my placebo week of pills and starting a new pack so as to delay my period. Does anyone have any advice? I've heard it's safe but I've never tried. Also, after I finish the first week of that new pack should I go back and take the placebo pills I missed or completely wait until next month to have my period? Basically any advice from anyone would help!
