Possible trigger- incompetent cervix

So

Hello. Sorry if this shouldn’t be here, i’m just very upset. My waters broke and i lost my boy at 15 weeks but the doctors could not find the reason. But i am sure this was due to IC because there was nothing wrong with him. I just have some questions for the ladies who have experienced this scary condition because i want to get pregnant soon but I’m nervous.

1. Is there any way for a doctor to conclude i have a weak cervix before i get pregnant again?

2. I know the rates of successful pregnancies are very high if treated early so i’ll do anything to make it to at least 32 weeks. Did you have to quit your job for bedrest?

3. Do progesterone shots affect you in some way? (Mood, appetite etc.)

4. Any input on this condition would mean a lot to me.

Wish you all happy pregnancies and healthy babies!

Ask for an ultrasound, they can measure your cervix and any weakness.

I don’t know, I know transvaginal they test for weakness and the length etc. I would insist next time you eat pregnant.

Most women are diagnosed with IC after multiple preterm births. So take me for an example I went into preterm labor at 25 weeks with no explanation having my son, and eventually losing him at 6 weeks after after going downhill after surgery(Lonny story, but this is the short version). I got pregnant again, was seen early(6weeks) and a SCH was seen, I ended up having a missed miscarriage. I got pregnant again about 6 months after he miscarriage and because I had went initially preterm labor with my first they decided to put me on progesterone injections, however I still went into preterm labor and ended up having another 25 weeker. The next time I got pregnant (about 7months after he was born) I received the progesterone injections and a cervical cerclage. That combo helped me get to 41 weeks with my daughter, and I had to be induced. 4 years later I got pregnant again(son is now 15 months) and received the same combo and made it to 39 weeks, I was induced again. This don’t always work, but has worked for me. I didn’t work with the past two pregnancies, but did with the first two. Bed rest isn’t typically required unless your cervix is shortening with the cerclage in place. I didn’t have many side effects from the injection except it did sting at first and sometimes itched days afterwards.

You’re welcome, I also wanted to add with the last two I had my cerclage and cervical length check every two weeks. They do this so that if there are changes in your cervix they will know it sooner than later. So even if they won’t give you a cerclage maybe they will monitor your cervical length, and if need be place an emergency cerclage if needed. I know of women who were able to make it to term with a emergency cerclage and bedrest. There has also been women who had full term pregnancies with just 17p injections. Best wishes to you!

Thank you so much for your response. This really means a world to me. I will have to beg doctors for a cerclage i guess. They don’t do it in my country unless i had two similar losses
