My husband’s family has always been antisocial, very outspoken, and somewhat self centered.

I’m due August 19 with a boy. My MIL and SIL decided they want to throw a baby shower for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very, very grateful. So what’s so unusual? They’ve planned the shower...and by planned, I mean picked the day, food, and come up with people they want to invite without texting or calling me. My MIL called my husband a few nights ago and told him my shower would be July 14, she told my husband who she is inviting, and told my husband she wants him to grill hamburgers and hot dogs. And more than likely, it will be at our house.

She has not asked if I have anything planned that day, who I want to invite, etc. She has even invited a couple I’ve never met. In fact, the only way I know ANY details is because my husband told me. I haven’t even told her where I’m registered. I can’t help but be a little peeved...it’s bizarre and I feel like it’s more about THEM and what THEY want. My husband thinks I’m overreacting, but has told her she needs to talk to me. Anyone else think this is weird and somewhat rude on their part?
