Baby Shower or Sprinkle for baby #2?

My son is 4 1/2 years old. I donated all of my baby stuff to the Hurricane Sandy disaster years ago. This is my boyfriend's first child and his family wants a baby shower. But i think it may be tacky to have a second one. However, we have nothing. Ugh. I need help lol

I think donating your stuff is very admirable, especially since you were not pregnant at the time and didn't know you need it all again. I know if I were a guest at a shower for someone like you, I'd be happy to pitch in.

Since you don't have anything and technically it's his first bio child I think having a shower would be okay.. I think it's tackier for those who are pregnant every other year and keep having showers.

I only think it's tacky when a woman has small children and already has everything or if she throws the shower for herself. If someone wants to throw you a shower let them! It is a celebration and done in love. I know my mil plans to throw me one because it is her first bio grandchild and my daughter is seven. We passed all on all her baby stuff to other moms years ago! Also this time I have a better grasp on what's really needed, and not asking for much, just the basics!

We were originally just going to do a small "sprinkle" if it was a boy this time. Then we found out we're having twins. I didn't ask for one but some friends/family are already planning a full blown shower. I asked my mom because I was worried it would be tacky but her advice was if people want to throw you one let them!

I felt the same way. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My daughter will be 11 by the time this baby is born and I always thought a baby shower for the 2nd child was a bit tacky. BUT, as you stated, I have nothing but a cradle for this baby. My family wants to throw a shower. I'm just going with the flow. I'm too tired and sick to protest lol

I share the same type of dilemma. Always thought it was tacky to have a shower unless it was your 1st baby but my son will be 8 when this baby is born so everything I had when he was a baby I've either given away, sold, lost track of, or it is outdated, unsafe, or expired. All my friends say that the rule makes sense if your kids are close in age but with 8 years between it is perfectly ok to have another shower. I hope so cause without a shower I don't know what we will do.

Do it! The shower is more for them anyways. It will be fun. Just the fact that you're the type of person that worries about tackiness (like I do) tells me that it will most definitely not be tacky. Have fun mama you deserve it!

I'm in the same boat! I donated my stuff to the local pregnancy center though. We're doing a small shower after Baby is born so everyone can meet him/her. We'll have things we'll register for, but we're keeping the gender a surprise for the birth so everything we register for will be neutral.
