How does child support work ?

Are wages automatically deducted from his check or does he have to manually make a payment ? We've already got the court order, he was supposed to begin paying child support in April but on the website it says no payments have been received...  However the balance he's supposed to be paying is sitting in arrears... He doesn't help me with shit so I really need this little bit of money to help with my baby. I know if it's not being pulled from his check then he probably won't pay what he's supposed to be paying.

Some states it automatically comes out or you can request that it comes out of his paycheck but it's not a guarantee the court will set it up like that.

He would have to have a job and the court can petition x amount of his pay be taken out. then usually the accountant cuts a check and mailsitto the state then its sent to you.

I live in Nevada, when we went to court he was ordered to pay child support, he sent me money orders, but would often miss payments or send less. I went to the child support enforcement office, filled out some paperwork to have his checks garnished, he also had to sign some paperwork. and now I get my child support on a card.

it will be garnished from his check by his employer. takes 1-2 months after it goes into effect.  a letter has to be sent to the employer, then they start to garnish and it takes about 2 weeks to get from them to you. if you aren't set up for direct deposit or on a card, it takes an extra week.

I don’t think it’s taken out... however if he doesn’t pay that’s illegal and there is legal action you can take that will make him pay (I don’t know how this all works so I would highly suggest going to a police station and asking questions or even back to family court)

It can work either way but if you want it to be taken out of his paycheck, that’s something that needs to be arranged with his employer through court order. If he’s responsible for making payments on his own it will be a lot more difficult to get any money from him. He can eventually get in trouble for not paying, but that will take a while and you won’t see any of that money he owed you the entire time.
