Husband’s infertility?

When did anyone decide to have their significant other tested for sperm count? 
I know dr. says if conception doesn’t happen within a year, but it would be so disappointing to waste the months when we could have tried to fix it and have been proactive 
Also- how much does male masturbation diminish chances of conception? Should he stop all together?

I would give it 6 m or a year depending on your age. Go w your Dr’s recommendation. I have multiple friends doing fertility treatments right now. Fertility treatments don’t have high success rates and are very stressful. Don’t rush into it if you don’t have to.  It’s not like they have some magic pill that instantly gets you pregnant.

We tested at 5 months with SpermCheck and found out he has a low count. I’m so glad we did so we didn’t have to go through another 7 months of heartbreak before finding that out! We’ve been through a ton of testing with doctors but found FertileAid and are going to try that for a bit before we start trying anything else. Low count doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant but it’s good to know so you’re having sex every other day instead of every day so his swimmers can rebuild. We’re hoping with some supplements we can get his count up and get pregnant. Big downside that we’ve learned is female infertility is often covered through health insurance but male isn’t...😡

we started testing at 8 months. first, my hormones and tubes checked for blockages when all that was normal they wanted him to do a sperm analysis (was it ever a fight to get that actually done) anyways... his sperm count came back low, 2days after getting those results we found out we were expecting so couldn't have mattered that much! it took us a total of 13 months which seemed like a lifetime but in reality it's not unrealistic time frame

Yes. We got tested after 7 mo. Everything came back normal on both sides, but since I was 35 going on 36, I didn’t want to wait a full year so we did IUI and it worked on the first round!

Before we even started trying, we both got checked. He had low morphology. We tried for 6months and then did iui, worked third cycle. 
I agree that it is a waste of time to wait a whole year, when he could be possibly shooting blanks.
