Daughter & her costumes

Sorry if this is the wrong board. Wasn’t quite sure where to post. & sorry if this is a stupid question.

So my daughter has a ton of fictional character costumes. One of them being a Mulan costume. Her absolute favorite. She always begs me to let her wear it out and about (she does her other ones sometimes 😅) but I get so nervous because I don’t want it to be seen as appropriating Asian culture or anything. She has the costume Mulan wore for the Matchmaker made for her, and then the outfit Mulan wears during training.

My husband doesn’t think she should, as he feels nobody would assume it was Mulan. He also doesn’t want her wearing her Sailor Mini Moon costume either as it also stems from Asian culture (anime) and doesn’t want to be disrespectful. Which I do NOT want to be either.

I’m just having a hard time explaining this to a four year old. Who LOVES wearing her costumes. 😞
