I started off just using an electric pump at home but as I started going out more with my daughter I bought a manual pump which I used to relieve pressure if we were out all day!

I had a handheld, single pump which helped my release a little milk in the morning before BF my son. I was usually too full and would choke him if I didn’t realize first. I also used it on the go if needed which was helpful

Depends on YOUR need.  I spent a bit of time out and about, many times with no access to an electric outlet, so the manual pump saved me then.  It is a pain in the butt and takes WAY longer, but it was still useful.
 
A pump bra is also HIGHLY recommended so you can be hands free.
