What swimming aids does your little one use?

I have a baby ring that I use just now. Suitable for use from a few months old. I now feel like my son wants to paddle about. I tried the life jacket but didn’t feel it was safe enough. Do you think at 18 months old hes old enough for armbands and a rubber ring? The packaging seems to say 3-6 years on them.

I’m in the process of teaching my daughter how to swim cause we tried the tube ring thing and a life vest and she hated both so I’ve been just holding on to her until I find something that she will use but she’s actually doing very well with understanding what I tell her to do like kick her legs and move her arms to stay afloat (I only take her to the kiddy pool where she can stand up no problem) I was swimming with just arm floats at 2 cause my dad taught us to swim very young but I obviously don’t have the training to fully teach her like my dad taught us but I can teach her the basics for now
