How long do you plan on keeping your baby inside after birth?

Question

Being that I'm giving birth between now (38d3d now) and July 6 (induction date if she don't come before) I hear a lot of people saying to keep the baby in the house for the first 30 days other then the first well visit. Have you ladies heard of this? or plan on keeping your baby in for a while if so how long?

I'm not. I feel like their immune system will build better if they are exposed to germs and the outside world.

Not at all. We'll be out and about as much as I can manage

We are keeping her mostly inside until she has her first set of shots. We will still go to people's houses but no stores.

I think going outside for a walk or something is better than going to an enclosed area, like a mall or a restaurant where there are lots of people/potential exposure. It's summer, so it's not exactly flu season, but keeping baby inside your home isn't exactly guaranteed to keep things away. I plan to walk outside with baby as soon as my body is up for it (likely getting a c-section due to breech presentation) and the weather seems good. Just use good judgement. Avoid sick people and don't let strangers handle baby with dirty hands.

We had our first daughter out at 10 days (aside from her first pedi appt). It was my cousins sons birthday party, it was outside and it was a beautiful day. With this being my second and it being July, I'm sure I will have this baby out just as soon. Fresh air is great for them and helps them sleep so much better! Also, my first daughter is still excellent when we go out and I think it's got a lot to do with having her out early.

With a 5 year old in school and soccer, it's not likely we will be inside much. Fine with me though because it's good for their immune system to be out in the world. Plus I'm not afraid to tell people to back up off my baby lol

I plan on staying home for the entire first week and to families homes the second week. After that we'll be going everywhere. We have a four year old who will be starting Pre-K end of August so I don't wanna deprive her of the summer

I have a 4 year old. And with it being summer I can't possibly keep him stuck indoors just cuz his baby brother should be outside. As long as I keep baby in the shade I'll be taking him outside whenever my 4 year old wants to go out and play which may be a lot. I'm hoping with hubby home the first week he can do that with older one while baby and I stay indoors and stay cool. Then when my
In laws and mom comes they can take over with that too. But after that I'll have to take baby outside

I read going outside for at least 30 minutes a day, like for a walk, was great for fighting off ppd so we will probably stay in the house for a week so we adjust and he will have time to heal and such. We live in the country so the dust may be a concern but the air is so much better than the city lol (no offense city people)
