What should I expect?

I'm going for a early scan tomorrow at 6 weeks 4 days. I've had 2 children before but years ago and never needed a early scan. Can anyone tell me what to expect and what can they tell you about the baby this early on? Thanks :)

Thank you. The scan is to locate the baby as I had a ectopic in December 2013 and I know which side I ovulated as I only have 1 tube and 1 ovary left from the rupture. Can they hear the heart beat that early on? And do they measure the baby to give you estimate due date? X

Any early scan I have had is a vaginal US. It doesn't hurt it is just kinda awkward and uncomfortable. Although they may try the one on your tummy first. That early it is mostly the sac and they can usually see/hear the heartbeat. The told me what side I ovulated from and how far along I was. That was pretty much it for me.
